about edelweiss village+resort

about our group

Under the new ownership of Montayne, Edelweiss Village and Resort embodies a blend of historical charm and modern amenities. We're committed to providing a unique experience that harmonizes the Swiss alpine lifestyle with the Canadian Rockies' majesty. In close collaboration with the Swiss Edelweiss Village Foundation, we ensure the enduring legacy of the Swiss Guides is woven into every aspect of our resort.

edelweiss village history

The roots of Edelweiss Village trace back to the early 20th century, originally established in 1911. It was home to the legendary Swiss Guides, renowned mountaineers who shaped the course of alpinism in Western Canada. Their legacy, deeply entwined with the Canadian Pacific Railway's history, laid the foundation for what is now a symbol of cultural and historical significance. To learn more about the history of the Village, check the website of the Swiss Edelweiss Village Foundation.

edelweiss village+resort:
present (phase 1)

Today, Edelweiss Village and Resort enters its first phase, offering accommodation in the original Swiss Guide Cabins. These cabins, meticulously restored, offer guests a unique blend of history and modern amenities. Our resort is not just a stay; it's an immersion into the tranquillity of nature, a step back from the rush of modern life, encouraging guests to rediscover the joy in simplicity.
